Synopsis
Directed by Rati Oneil, THEO documents several days of a young man’s life with fluid imagery and untraditional narrative illuminating the emotional and transitional human condition. It's a story of a modern human, caught in the 'relentless-right-now', lost in the powerful vortex of life, unable to find a way out and unwilling to change.
Theo's life is a constant hustle and a never-ending cycle of ups and downs. Drifting the underground of New York, he witnesses people and places of everyday interest, stopping only if he finds opportunity to get what he needs to live another day. The people around him seem to be living a monotonous cycle of working to feed, feeding to work. His life begins and ends at the tip of his fingers, anything beyond that is out of his reach.
Through subtle variations of washed-down colors of New York, we follow Theo who does not blend into the 'productive' side of city life. Like Meursault, the main character in Albert Camus' The Stranger, Theo seems to show little apprehension to his own actions. Through non-linear, non-didactic, lyrical observation, Rati Oneli lets the viewers relate to the character on different levels through-out the film. THEO picks up the viewer in the moments of flux of life, and lets the viewer go with mysterious openness within the same stream. Full of subtle paradoxes and visually stunning cinematography, viewers are left with burst of hope without tangible resolution. THEO shows the cinematic alchemy at its best.

Reviews, Press and Acclaim
"...an emerging filmmaker of enormous promise...
He gets under the skin of modern anxiety, as well as anyone working today." |
| - Tom Hedley, Esquire Magazine |
"...it feels fresh, as if we haven't seen the city in quite this way before. It takes the viewer out of his comfort zone and never lets him leave" |
| - Christian Toto, Film Critic |
