The Faisan Bleu was a hotel-cabaret at 1101 boulevard Cure-Labelle in Saint-Martin, now part of Laval, owned by Jacques Fauteux and Leon Jeannotte. It opened May 14, 1956 with a gala that drew more than 3,000 people, headlined by the Quebec humorist duo the Jerolas. A large suburban supper-club that booked international headliners, it hosted Cab Calloway for six nights in March 1966 and Earl Grant in June 1967, advertised Frankie Laine, Brenda Lee, and the Four Aces in 1966, and was where Josephine Baker was arrested just before a scheduled performance on June 15, 1960. The Faisan Bleu had been shut for about two years when, on March 14, 1971, an unexplained fire destroyed the vacant building; police suspected the blaze had been set as a diversion for an armed robbery committed elsewhere.
