Set of 6 vintage ceramic advertising tiles made in England by Richards Tiles Ltd. Each tile features a detailed illustration of a historic London pub connected to Barclay’s Beers / Barclay Perkins Brewery, Southwark.

Designs included:

• The Hand & Shears, Cloth Fair (3 tiles)

• Barclay’s Brewhouse, Southwark 1790 (1 tile)

• The King & Prince of Wales, Brick St. (1 tile)

• The Two Chairmen, Warwick House St. (1 tile)

Details:

• Maker’s mark on reverse: “RICHARDS ENGLAND” with impressed numbers.

• Approximate size: ~ 4 1/8” x 4 1/8”

• Date: c. 1940s - 1950s

• Originally produced as decorative/advertising tiles and sometimes used in pubs or as collectible drink mats.

Condition:

• Vintage condition with age wear, surface marks, some glaze crazing, and small edge chips (see photos for details).

• Still display beautifully with nice patina.
