“CITY HALL, ST LOUIS, MO.”
The shoe has an elaborate Victorian-style form with a high heel, raised floral ornamentation, molded scrollwork, pink/lavender glaze, a large decorative bow, and extensive gold-tone/gilt detailing.
This style of architectural souvenir porcelain was popular during the early 20th century, and the Missouri History Museum documents ceramic ladies’ shoes and City Hall souvenir ceramics associated with the 1904 Louisiana Purchase Exposition / St. Louis World’s Fair.
Because this individual piece is not visibly marked “1904” or “World’s Fair,” it is being described conservatively as 1904 World’s Fair era / attributed St. Louis souvenir porcelain rather than as a definitively marked official exposition souvenir.
An excellent display piece for collectors of:
- 1904 St. Louis World’s Fair memorabilia
- Louisiana Purchase Exposition souvenirs
- Antique souvenir porcelain
- Victorian shoe figurines
- St. Louis Missouri memorabilia
- Architectural souvenir ceramics
