Exceptional antique French bronze figural candelabrum dating to the late 19th century, circa 1880.

This impressive single candelabrum features an elaborate naturalistic tree-form standard rising above a richly decorated base with a classical male figure. Six scrolling branches terminate in candleholders, while the composition is crowned by a dramatic long-legged bird/heron or stork with outstretched wings.

The piece displays the sophisticated sculptural detail, classical influences and elaborate bronze work associated with the celebrated Parisian bronze workshops of the period.
