Antique Porcelain \"A Present\" Blue Cup w/ Saucer, Cherub, Purple Violets For Sale

Beautiful piece of Victorian-era nostalgia is a perfect “present” for that special someone!

This type of antique porcelain teacup and saucer set was popular as a souvenir or sentimental gift item during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. It features a hand-painted design with violets, gold trim, and the inscription "A present" in raised gold lettering.

These types of "present" or "souvenir" cups with sentimental phrases were commonly manufactured in Germany, Occupied Japan, and England by various makers.

These souvenir pieces were widely produced by many different porcelain factories, especially in Germany and Austria, during the late 19th century. Both the cup and saucer are unmarked. The lack of a mark could indicate that it might be an earlier piece before marking became standard practice, or simply a lesser-known factory's work.

The set has a light blue luster glaze finish and scalloped edge. It is in very good condition for the age. There is a small chip on the rim. Other irregularities, common in the manufacture of the pieces before standardization, are present. See pictures.
