This exceptionally rare antique Staffordshire pink lusterware mourning teacup features a highly detailed, black transferware scene commemorating Princess Charlotte Augusta of Wales. Issued in 1817 following her tragic passing, the poignant graphics depict Britannia draped in mourning over a tomb inscribed "To the Memory of Charlotte," flanked by a weeping figure and willow trees, while two cherubs or putti hold a crown aloft in the clouds. This historic teacup features a delicate metallic pink luster band around the interior and exterior rims, a luster-accented handle, and a fine inner concentric line, making it a historically significant and beautiful example of 19th-century British royal commemorative ware, as pictured.

Condition: it is unmarked. This antique teacup is in remarkable commemorative condition for its age, showing only light wear consistent with its historic nature. There is mild rubbing and minor flaking to the pink luster trim along the top rim and handle, along with subtle localized staining and tiny iron spots on the interior basin and exterior bottom, as pictured. The glaze retains a lovely gloss with virtually no distinct generalized crazing, and the piece remains free of any chips, cracks, or structural restoration, as pictured.
