Here is a fascinating split view postcard showing off two of Asheville\'s beautiful religious landmarks. The top half gives you a wonderful look at the impressive St Lawrence Cathedral on Haywood Street showing off its iconic twin domes. Down below you get a slightly more mysterious heavily shaded view of the Hillside Convent on North Main Street tucked away behind some very enthusiastic foliage. The card is unposted and very clean on the back minus a stray pencil scribble. You will notice some soft corners and very minor edge wear that naturally comes with surviving decades forgotten in a desk drawer.

The St Lawrence Cathedral seen on the top of this card features the largest freestanding elliptical dome in North America. The architect Rafael Guastavino built it entirely of tile and mortar with absolutely no steel beams. He loved his work so much that when he passed away he was actually entombed right inside the basilica!
