Wonderfullog book of the Motor Yacht Adroit II which went into service at PortWashington, Long Island on April 23,1938. There was a party on board and thenthe yacht Master dropped off members of the party at Throggs Neck and BlackwellIsland. He then proceeded to Cape May Harbor and anchored. On the 25thhe proceeded out of Cape May to their destination in Texas.
There are approx.30 pages of entries, with additional entries on the facing pages, where he recordslocations, weather conditions, running time, distance traveled, average speed, numberof gallons of gas he takes on, various duties performed by the crew, etc. etc.

Theyarrive in St Augustine, Fl on May 4th. On May 5th “whilebacking out of slip at city dock, tide caught ship and swung head to stbd. Inattempting to straightening out causing ship to run ahead into port strikingthe yacht Nautilus II a hard blow at an angle of about 45 degrees. Mr. C. S. Smithowner of Nautilus II arrived and conducted preliminary examination with Mr.Waldron Smith & Capt. Waldron, two planks on stbd. side mid ship crushedin, third and fourth planks badly gouged. …. Arraignments were made with DaytonaBeach Boat Works to make necessary repairs by Mr. Smith as we passed byDaytona. 8:05 departed St Augustine.”
May 7th4:15 P.M. “Arrived Moore Haven, town dock, while docking struck rock withstbd. Propeller nicked one blade. 7:30 Fin loading gasoline.”
May12, 5:20 P.M. Anchored off Edgemont Key in Tampa Bay.
May13, 11:30 P. M. Wind freshened from S W with heavy seas & swell – all handson deck … anchor holding. All hands standing by. (George praying).
May17, 10:45 Fin loading gas. 1107-gals gas.
May22, Docked at pier #11 Galveston to find suitable berth. 5:10 Let go linesshifted ship to yacht Base at Pier #6. Docked at yacht Base. Ship secured forthe night.
May 24, 3:15 Left dock Galveston7:20 Docked Freeport, [TX]
May25, Day comes in fine and clear. 5:45 Left dock Freeport proceeding down river.… 11;30 Pass Cavallo … 2:50 Entered Aransas Pass. 4:20 All fast to Smiths WarfRockport, [MA]
