Max Weber was an important figure in early American modernism and among the first American artists to engage seriously with Cubism and European avant-garde ideas. His paintings often combined geometric fragmentation with subjects drawn from city life, crowds, music, movement, and the rapidly changing experience of modern America.
These slides provide useful visual references for the study of American Cubism, modernism, early twentieth-century painting, New York art, urban imagery, abstraction, avant-garde art, and the development of modern American visual culture.
