NiceMorrow Mountainpoint that measures 2\" long by 1 1/8\" wide. Morrow Mountain points are from the Middle Archaic period and date in the 7,000 to 5,000 BP range. Some may have been preforms for contracting-stem types. Similar to Gary point preforms in other areas, but these date earlier. This example was found along the Tennessee River, in the Limestone / Lauderdale Counties area of Alabama. Material looks to be beige patinatedDoverchert. A fine, thin worked down example. If you have any questions, please feel free to email me.
Super collector history here. This point was found by / from the ex James W. Cambroncollection of Decatur, Alabama. Mr. Cambron (1920 - 1982) was a distinguished avocational archaeologist who wrote \"Handbook of Alabama Archaeology Part I Point Types\" with David C. Hulse. Shortly after Mr. Cambron\'s death, the collection was purchased by Ralph H. Allen Jr, who was from Montgomery, Alabama. (Cambron\'s collection included Hulse\'s collection as well). Mr. Allen (1922 - 1993) was a contemporary and protege of the above two amateur archaeologists. Upon Mr. Allen\'s death, his collection was sold to Dennis Bushey of Selma, Alabama.A large part of it was then purchased byRay Kilgoreof Cusseta, Alabama. Mr. Kilgore sold a big chunk of it toJacky Fullerof Fortson, Georgia. Mr. Fuller then sold part of this collection toAlton Martinof Georgia. I purchased this point from Mr. Martin in 2000. It has been in my collection since, and it will come with my artifact data sheet. Time for a new caretaker for this nice, historic piece!
