MUSEUM QUALITY Vintage 1850's Carolina Lily /Honeybee Antique Applique Quilt For Sale

This DAZZLING cotton 1840's/1850's red & yellow/green Carolina lily variation quilt is all hand pieced, hand appliqued and hand quilted, with a secondary "honeybee" background design, and serpentine and sawtooth borders.It measures 76" X 76" and is in good/fair condition, with surface dirt, the occasional age spot, and popping (damage) in the red and binding wear.
The hand quilting is superb, with close straight line, feathered wreath, and pinwheel designs quilted throughout at an even 10-12 stitches to the inch.
The back is white, the hand stitched binding is red, and the batting is thin. You can see cotton seed inside when you hold the quilt up to the light. The quilt came out of Richland County, Ohio and was part of the prestigious Virginia Gunn collection.
