A pair of solid brass cricket boxes... octagonal, with pierced quatrefoil cutouts around the sides and lid, a hinged latch closure and a little arched carry handle on top. Handmade in India.
Cricket boxes were made to hold a chirping cricket for luck, but they're wonderful for potpourri, small jewelry, guitar picks, matches, or just for stacking and styling on a shelf. The pierced cutouts throw the prettiest little shadows when there's a candle nearby.
Selling the two together — they're slightly different sizes, which makes them look intentional as a pair!
📏 Approx 1.5" tall, the largest box is about 3" x 3", and the smaller one about 2.5" x 3".
Condition: Good vintage condition. Both open, close and latch properly. Natural brass patina and tarnish throughout, with some darker spots and light interior residue shown in photos. Unpolished and left as found so you can decide whether to shine them up or keep the aged look.
