This vibrant chrome postcard showcases Society Hill Towers, the iconic trio of modernist residential skyscrapers rising dramatically above the Delaware River waterfront in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Designed by I.M. Pei and completed in the early 1960s, the three uniform towers are captured here from the river, with a bright red tugboat prominently in the foreground and a brick pier structure stretching along the waterfront. The composition also captures a glimpse of older surrounding architecture, providing an excellent mid-century urban contrast. The back of the card identifies this as catalog number 359 and describes the complex as a 720-apartment community surrounded by 5 acres of landscaped area, owned by Alcoa Properties, Inc. It notes the historically significant location along the Delaware River where William Penn landed in 1682 to establish the City of Philadelphia. Published and distributed by WYCO Products of Jenkintown, Pennsylvania. This is a standard divided-back chrome postcard, consistent with production from the 1960s. The card is unposted and unused, with no stamps, postmarks, or messages. Condition is Excellent — corners are crisp, colors are vivid and unfaded, and the card is free from creases, foxing, or soiling. A great addition to any Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, or mid-century modernist architecture postcard collection. Society Hill Towers remains a celebrated landmark of American urban renewal and architectural history, making this a desirable and historically interesting piece for collectors.
