This is a rare and massive 19th century Bowie Knife. The hilt is faintly marked E M Dickinson Sheffield. The blade measures 11 1/2 inches and is dark in places. It has a massive clip point blade Overall the knife is 16 1/2 inches long. The cross guard is German Silver with fancy heart shape cut outs. The grip is a single piece of antler.The knife comes with an old sheath which has shrunk a bit and the two no longer fit together well. The sheath has brass fittings.Dickinson is a well known maker located at 203 Arundel Street in Sheffield. He made knives during the 1870's
