This is a vibrant vintage 1920-1930’s Japanese porcelain chocolate or demitasse coffee pot set manufactured by Tashiro Shoten (Nagoya, Japan). This striking Art Deco-era set features a bold lime/apple green background accented with beautiful white cranes (or herons/egrets) wading along the base, rendered in a lovely textured, raised slip technique. Hand-painted Elegant gold gilt trim accents the handles, rims, and finial.
The bottom of the pieces features the classic Tashiro Shoten backstamp: Mount Fuji enclosed within a circular wreath with "JAPAN" underneath, dating this set circa 1920s–1930s.
Set Includes (7 Pieces Total):
(1) Tall Chocolate / Demitasse Coffee Pot with Matching Lid
(2) Demitasse Cups
(4) Matching Saucers (Note: Includes 2 extra saucers, perfect for replacements or display!)
Condition:
EXCELLENT vintage condition with no cracks, or repairs. Only flea bites are on bottom of saucers and pot. There are 2 very small chips on rim of cups. There are a couple of darker lines on the pot . See pictures for detail. The gold gilt accents show minimal wear, and the green glaze remains incredibly bright and glossy. There is minor, light shelf wear/storage scuffing on the unglazed white base of the pot consistent with age, but nothing that detracts from its display value. (Please review all photos carefully as they serve as part of the description).
