Vintage 1957 Zinacantan Tunic Chiapas Mexico Hand Woven Striped Cotton Fringe Po:
$199.00

This is an incredibly rare, museum-quality true vintage Zinacantán Tunic (Pok\'u\'ul) from the highlands of Chiapas, Mexico, featuring an exceptional provenance tag dating its collection to 1957. Hand-woven on a traditional backstrap loom by Indigenous Tzotzil Maya artisans, this garment represents the classic mid-century ceremonial style of the Zinacantán municipality before the region\'s style transitioned to modern bright florals.

The tunic is composed of heavy, tightly woven hand-spun cotton panels showcasing a classic red/pink and white vertical pinstripe pattern (28200.jpg). It features an open-sided layout with a central neck opening (28203.jpg), traditional self-fringe along the bottom edge (28200.jpg), and a small decorative hot pink yarn accent tassel at the lower corner edge (28204.jpg).
