Original vintage French circus advertising poster for Cirque Lorrain, featuring a dramatic tiger illustration and advertising animal trainer Klising.

A fantastic surviving piece of French circus advertising, produced for Cirque Lorrain and promoting “Le Dompteur Klising”, the zoo, dromedaries and wild animals presented within the circular cage.

The poster has a superb period graphic design with a large roaring tiger, bold red and yellow colouring and classic circus typography. Despite its heavily used condition, the main printed image remains clear, strong and extremely decorative.

The lower margin carries the original printer details: Imprimerie de la Têt, Perpignan - 68.54.64.84. The poster is believed to date from around the 1980s to early French circus advertising poster

Approx. size: 96cm x is a heavily used original vintage poster with extensive age and display-related wear throughout. There are numerous creases, surface cracking, tears, edge wear and losses, old staple holes and surviving staples, including staples to the lower right area. There is also a substantial tear through the upper margin together with further smaller tears and general handling and storage wear.

The condition is entirely consistent with an ephemeral circus advertising poster that saw genuine working use and public display. Importantly, the central tiger artwork, main Cirque Lorrain lettering and the majority of the printed design remain clear and visually strong.

No attempt has been made to restore or disguise the wear. The poster is sold exactly as photographed.

A wonderfully characterful and uncommon surviving piece of French circus ephemera with excellent decorative presence.
