I am offering an original vintage2000 Rell Sunn Menehune Surf Championship at Makaha Beach, Hawaii.
Rell Sunn, the Queen of Makaha, wasan Americanworld surfing champion. Known as “Queen of Makaha” and “AuntyRell”, she pioneered the world ofwomen’s surfing.
She got an early start at 4 yearsyoung…the same age our current Menehune’s can enter her event!
Rell was Hawaii’s 1stfemalelifeguard. She helped cofound the Women’s International Surfing Association in1975…the 1stWomen’s Pro Circuit (WISA).
The legend even helped form theWomen’s Pro Surfing (WPS) in ’79 and in 1982 Rell ranked #1 longboarder in theworld.
Rell started the contest to help theyounger girls and boys to have a place so they to could compete and strive toexcel in the ocean. The Rell Sunn Educational Fund is a public nonprofitcorporation organized and operated exclusively for charitable, scientific, andeducational purposes. Specifically, this organization will educate the publicabout sportsmanship and the environment combat juvenile delinquency and providemonies to battle breast cancer.
This shirt’s art work is done byHawaiian artist Avi Kiriaty.
Marked size medium. Armpit to armpit is18”; back of collar to waist is 27”. No holes, tears or stains.
