A CAPYBARA LONDON ZOO C1878 Magic Lantern Slide VICTORIAN PHOTOGRAPH
An early image of the London zoo from a set produced by York & son. Dated to the no later than 1878 ( but more likely earlier ) as the set included an image of Obaysch the Hippo who died in 1878 ( being sold seperately ).
From these early images you see how different zoo\'s and the care of animals was 150 years ago. The slide consists of two glass plates, on that the image is applied to and a second to protect the image. The slide normally has a inner paper border and then the slide is then held together with edging paper.Please be aware that as the slide can be photographed both sides so the image in photo 1 may be reversed in error
