Antique Asian (Japanese, Chinese) Pewter Teapot - 1920’s - Wax Seal

Thanks for your interest in this teapot! It’s a beautiful antique Asian teapot with an iguana on the top, and a wax seal with some sort of Asian lettering or seal, with what I suppose would be identifying information about the piece, that I’m unfortunately not trained to identify.

It’s made from pewter which puts it around the early 1900’s….I’m assuming from my research it’s around the 1920’s. It could be dated earlier, but I can’t deduce that from what I know about it. I’ve seen more than a few very similar teapots listed as 19th century…but, again, I don’t know for sure….so, I’m going with the latest date I think it could’ve been made.

It has engraved floral patterns on it’s side, with a scored floral handle, and molded feet on it’s base. The tape you see on the lid is just there to keep it attached to the teapot as one piece, it comes off easily.

The iguana on top is slightly bent, FYI. Still attached though, just bent at the base a bit. There are some scratches on the piece, but overall it’s in great shape. It has not been cleaned, and it’s patina is intact.
