EAPG Antique Covered Butter Dish. Pattern: "Snail" or "Idaho", a State Series Pattern, Circa 1880"s
This EAPG Antique Covered Butter Dish from the 1880"s has two Pattern Names: "Snail" (because the circles resemble a snail) and "Idaho" because it a State Series Pattern.
It was produced by 2 different companies: George Duncan and Sons, and U.S. Glass Co.
The cover has a knob above a clear section with swirly lines above a circular row of "snail" circles above a clear unadorned band.
The bottom has a depression for the butter with a sunburst base. The edge is another circular section of "Snails"
Size: The bottom is 7-1/2" round, the depression is 1" deep. The top is 5-1/2" across the base and 5-12/2" high. When together, the butter dish measures 6-1/2" high.
