Glassworks Slavia is known for excellent quality and detailed artistry of its high enamel pieces. What is high enamel? Think sumptuous color! Think dignified opulence. Think 24 karat gold, three-dimensional handpainted porcelain flowers! That’s high enamel.

High enamel is a luxurious decorating technique that dates back to the 18th century. It is very labor-intensive process that requires many steps to create the finished product.

Process begins when the glass blower blows the peace by mouth. It is made of true bohemian glass, lead free. After cooling, it is handpainted in 24 karat gold by the decorating artist and returned to the furnace to be fired.

After the Gold is fired onto the pieces, it returns to the artist to be hand painted with rich enamel colors and paint made of ground porcelain. The porcelain paint is used to create the raised, three-dimensional flowers. This process of firing and painting is repeated as fine detail is added until the piece is finished.

High enamel may be a traditional technique, but it’s a style that fits well into modern homes to add richness, beauty, and luxury to any decor.
