The Dickens Fellowship – Blackheath, Lee & Lewisham Branch Dance Card, November 23, 1906
Original printed dance card from the Blackheath, Lee & Lewisham Branch of The Dickens Fellowship, dated Friday, November 23, 1906. This early piece of Dickens Fellowship ephemera measures approximately 4 x 2.5 inches and lists ten dances, including the Waltz, Lancers, Barn Dance, Alberts, and a themed “Dickens Quadrilles.” Founded in 1902 to celebrate and promote the works and ideals of Charles Dickens, The Dickens Fellowship held social gatherings that reflected Edwardian literary and cultural life. Early examples from local branches such as this are seldom encountered and document the organization’s early years before World War I.
Condition:
Good condition overall, with age-toned card stock and minor handling wear. Small punched hole at upper left, as originally issued for ribbon attachment. Printing remains sharp and legible on both sides.
