Large original collection of 68 Royal Opera House, Covent Garden Ballets Russes programmes, dating from 1934, 1935 and 1936.These are original period programmes for the Season of Russian Ballet / Col. W. de Basil’s Ballets Russes, with a variety of dated performances represented.Examples visible within the collection include productions such as Les Sylphides, Le Lac des Cygnes, Carnaval, Cotillon, Les Cent Baisers, Le Mariage d’Aurore and others.68 programmes in total.There are duplicate dates/performances within the collection.Condition:Approximately 50 are what I would personally describe as the better “Grade A” examples, showing generally light age and storage wear commensurate with material around 90 years old.The remainder are “Grade B” examples showing more noticeable age toning/darkening around the edges, together with varying storage wear, creasing and occasional marks.These grading descriptions are my own for the purpose of distinguishing the cleaner examples from the more heavily aged examples and are not professional archival grades.Please study the photographs carefully, which show representative examples of the condition and variety within the collection.A substantial group of original pre-war Ballets Russes / Royal Opera House theatrical ephemera, potentially of interest to collectors, dealers, archives, theatre historians, ballet enthusiasts or for individual resale.Sold only as one complete job lot of 68 programmes.The programmes shown are the actual collection being sold.
