Ca. 1900-1920 Canteen with Strap & Cup.
Round canteen with convex sides (about 7 3/8" in diameter); edge is flat with a raised ridge (1" in diameter). Complete with cup and leather strap (still pliable) with buckle.
An attached auction tag reads "MILITIA CANTEEN," likely because the basic design is similar to some Civil War era militia canteens. The canteen is hard to date, but appears to be ca. 1900-1920. Both canteen and cup are made from steel, not aluminum (they aremagnetic). The canteen is significantly heavier and far sturdier than the typical Civil War tin canteen.
The canteen bears an interesting maker's stamp which read in part "[?] C. M. Co." below a design shaped somewhat like a ship. I couldn't find any other examples of this maker's stamp online. If anyone recognizes it, let me know and I will revise the listing.
