Antique Gypsy Fortune Telling Cards – Austro-Hungarian Empire – Ferd. Piatnik & Sohn, Wien - Unfortunately, the total number of surviving cards is only 17 out of the original 32.
The cards are slightly wavy due to their age.These cards are not a later reprint, but an authentic piece of history, carrying the genuine charm and atmosphere of that era. What makes this deck especially fascinating is its multilingual character — each card features inscriptions in Hungarian, Czech Germany languages etc... showing natural signs of age such as yellowing, yet the print remains detailed. The paper is of excellent quality — firm and sturdy, typical of high-end Piatnik production, not soft or fragile. The cards are rather small in format, measuring about 8 cm in height — smaller than I expected, but this compact size adds to their delicate charm and historical authenticity. The original box is missing, and I'm not sure if one was even included with this edition originally.A genuine artifact from the Austro-Hungarian Empire full of history, skillful printing, and symbolic beauty — an exceptional collector’s item for lovers of fortune-telling, tarot, and antique playing cards.
