Rare piece of Oregon postal and transportation history. Cornelius C. Beekman started his own express service in Jacksonville, Oregon, after his company failed, transporting gold and goods between Jacksonville, OR, and Yreka, CA, in the 1850s.
Beekman eventually became a major Wells Fargo agent, but his original service was an important part of early Pacific Northwest logistics.
