This is a genuine M.A. Hadley Pottery lidded casserole bowl, signed "M.A. Hadley" on the base. Hadley Pottery, hand-thrown and hand-painted in Louisville, Kentucky since the 1940s, is beloved by collectors for its whimsical folk-art animal designs on a soft stoneware body with cobalt blue trim. This charming little dish features a hand-painted duck standing in the grass beneath a cloud and flying birds, painted on the interior of the bowl. The lid has a matching blue rim and a sturdy knob handle, and the bowl itself has two small tab handles for easy serving. A sweet farmhouse-style piece for a kitchen table, candy dish, or trinket holder.

This is a vintage, pre-owned piece and shows normal age and use. Please review all photos closely, as they are part of the description:
● Fine crazing throughout the glaze, typical of vintage Hadley stoneware
● A small rust-colored speck/spot on the underside of the lid rim (see close-up photo) — appears to be a firing-process fleck in the glaze, not a chip
● Light surface scuffs and small glaze specks consistent with age and normal kitchen use
● No chips or cracks found on the bowl or lid
● Lid fits the bowl securely and sits flush
● Some minor staining/discoloration typical of stoneware that has seen use over the years
