c1950s Valentines Kiddie Rides Complete Ticket Book East Los Angeles CA For Sale

Original vintage Valentine’s Kiddie Rides ticket booklet from 5728 Whittier Blvd., East Los Angeles, California, most likely dating to the 1950s or early 1960s.

The booklet is complete with all 12 original ride tickets still present and attached, numbered 03238. The illustrated cover advertises “12 Rides for $1.00 – Good Any Time” and features a carousel / kiddie ride image. Individual tickets read:

The “9¢ Tax Exempt” wording is an interesting period detail. Federal law specifically exempted admission charges of less than 10 cents for children under 12 from the federal admissions tax, a provision originating during the WWII era; the federal admissions tax was ultimately repealed in 1965.

Excellent surviving piece of East Los Angeles roadside amusement and childhood entertainment ephemera. Light toning, minor edge/handling wear and age-related discoloration. Original staple remains in place. All 12 tickets are unused and intact. Please see photos for exact condition.
