The 48th participated in the final battle of the Civil War at Fort Blakeley, AL. The discharge shows Henry Polite as having been born in Charlotte County, North Carolina.

Age - Dated October 3rd, 1865.

Condition -Wear and discolorations, partial separations along three of the fold lines, a small portion of loss and creasing to the right edge, fragile but intact.
