From 1971 a plastic PREHISTORIC PLAYSET by MARX virtually complete. Only items missing are two connecting tabs for the rock formation and instruction sheet which both are typically missing, but this set has the illustrated booklet and all figures and accessories in accordance with the factory checklist presented in a definitive article by Glenn Ridenour and Rusty Kern in Plastic Figure and Playset Collector magazine whom are considered by most collectors to be experts in regards to Marx playsets.
The list of contents of this set consist of the illustrated booklet, 3 piece cave and lake terrain (very minor melt mark on the back edge of rock arch, often caused by chemical reaction to exposure to other materials or cleansers - see attached photo), large single trunk palm tree, large double trunk palm tree, 2 small double trunk palm trees, all palm tree tops, 4 ferns with bases in 2 styles of 3 and 4 leaf frond, 12 cavemen in all 6 poses, and 37 dinosaurs and prehistoric animals (only 36 were included originally but an extra Iguanodon is included in this set). Animal figures consist of: 1 Tyrannosaurus Rex, 1 Brontosaurus, 2 Allosaurus, 1 Pteranodon, 1 Hadrosaurus, 2 Ankylosaurus, 2 Stegosaurus, 2 Trachodon with variations, 4 Plateosaurus, 5 Dimetrodon, 2 Cynognathus, 2 Sphenacoden, 3 Triceratops, 1 Struthiomimus, 1 Moschops, 1 Woolly Mammoth, 1 Parasaurolophus, 1 Styracosaurus, 2 Iguanodon, 1 Smilodon, and 1 Megatherium.There are no condition issues with all figures or accessories except for the minor melt mark on a terrain piece.
Box has overall minor wear and some splitting along the side tabs (see attached photo) but is of sound construction.
