This little hinged box has wonderful, satiny pocket wear. The lid opens wide on its box joint style hinge. It's carved from either burl or crotch wood of an unknown species of tree.
The patina glows of honey amber...examine the photos of the box in my hand. The colors in the photo are pretty true to life.
There are two purfling grooves on each end. The wider ones remain open. The narrow ones are mostly filled, either intentionally or from years of accumulation during use.
The crest has no engraving or embossing on it.
There is nothing bad to be said about this box...it's excellent.
