Gamewell Fire Alarm System Charger, Vintage 1906 Original Condition For Sale

This unit is an original Gamewell Fire alarm system rectifier. It was the battery charger of the day and was designed to keep a large bank of smaller, wet cell batteries charged. In the system where this particular unit was used (up until the early 1990's) the output was set to 30 Volts and kept two large automobile batteries in series fully charged The whole system ran on battery power and the batteries had to be kept fully charged so that the system would not go down in a power failure.
Anyway, if you are an avid Gamewell collector you will want this piece of history. There are still many towns and cities that continue to maintain hard wired fire alarm systems. There is still no better, faster and safer way to report a fire than to use the nearest alarm box,
