6.5 x 6.5 x 1.75 inches or 17 x 17 x 4.5 cmSince 2004 I specialized in collecting all the fluorescent minerals of Namibia for my Geo Safari Research Project on all the fluorescent minerals of Africa. Years ago I was able to obtain some nice fluorescents from the desert near Swakopmund. They would just appear and I would buy them and never see them for sale again. This is one of those. I don\'t have any details for a specific mine location but at one time I had a fairly big collection of them. It fluoresces a white & cream color, best under Short Wave UV. This is the largest remaining Banded Aragonite from Namibia in my collection. It\'s like a flat plate, a very impressive piece. I\'ve never seen another like it. That\'s why the price must remain high. It\'s interesting material in daylight, too. You can see the banding better when you see it up close.Is it rare? Well, I haven\'t see any more since 2007 when I bought it. So I guess it is but who knows if it\'s common over there in the Swakopmund area.
