NASA/AEROJET NASDA H-II DEVELOPMENT EXECUTIVE PHOTOS/LETTER W/STS47 JAPAN PATCH For Sale

This recent find comes from Estate of Retired NASA MSFC Aerospace Engineer that was part of ABMA and NASA working with Wernher von Braun on the pioneering Rocket Team. Mr. Jerry Thomson was ultimately responsible for the development and Testing of the "H1", J2 and F1 Rocket Engines and eventually put in charge of the Shuttle "SSME" development in 1968, Lastly from 1971-86 he served as Chief Engineer for the Space Shuttle Main Engine where he helped design the RS-25. After retiring from NASA, Mr. Thomson joined Aerojet as the Senior Chief Scientist for advanced propulsion working directly with Foreign Space Agencies including NASDA Approving and Testing Rocket Engines - NOTE: JAPAN photo book was presented to Mr. Thomson by the Director of NASDA Launch and Propulsion Division and has Original photos. This listing is for a set of items relating to the development/testing of engines in JAPAN with NASDA and the successful launch of the H-II Launch Vehicle with details below:

• NASA NASDA STS-47 FIRST MATERIAL PROCESSING TEST PATCH - appx. 4" diameter
• HARBOUND PHOTO BINDER with Photos and Mr. Thomson's Aerojet Business Card - 13-1/4"L x 13-3/4"W - first pages in the book are numbered 1-13 with photos labeled (73). There are several blank pages in between multiple other photo pages including tours, engines, meetings as well as some in the back of travel (these are not labeled - 63 photos). Photos include pics of various research and testing facilities with multiple engines, turbopumps being developed for the H-II including construction of the H-II Launch Pad
• AEROJET Envelope with Photo, Postcard Set and Letter with Business Card - Mailing sent to Mr. Thomson from Toyohiko OHTA (IHI) with handwritten letter on company letterhead including business card and 5x7 Photo (with handwritten note on back side thanking Mr. Thomson) and Photo Postcard Set (6 in their original envelope - 4-1/8"Wx5-7/8"L) all relating to the H-II Launch Vehicle First Flight Launch

All items are in Excellent overall condition for use and age with some expected aging/storage wear.
