Parker 2001 Duofold Maki-e LE Chikurin Bamboo Fountain Pen - Preproduction? :
$4500.00

THIS PEN is NOT NUMBERED! It is in mint condition!

Parker Duofold Centennial 2001 Limited Edition Maki-e Bamboo patterned Japanese lacquer Fountain Pen.

This pen is not numbered! It is well documented on theinternet that there were only 150 of these pens made.

\"The 2001 Duofold Maki-e LE Chikurin (Bamboo) Fountain is based on a Parker Centennial body and decorated with the Japanese Maki-e technique by artist Shozan Hariyama.Only 150 of these pens were made worldwide.\"

Since mine is not numbered, I think it was a pre-production sample. I have no evidence of this.

Why do I think this? From my experience in the clothing industry, it is very common to make samples before you go into production. And if you are making limited editions; it is a bit too early to decide how many to make when you don\'t clearly understand the demand for the item.

I have compared my pen to photos of this same pen on the internet.

Those pens have numbers like #114/150 marked on the pen.

The box has the year printed on the lid of the wood box, 2001.

My box is the same packaging, but it does not have the year 2001 printed on the lid.

My pen did not come with any paperwork. The Numbered pens come with paperwork from the Classic Pens.

This could be because the paperwork had not been printed at the time this pen was made.

Color Printing is expensive and would not have been done for a sample. Quality printing is expensive and would not be done before the pen is made.

I have compared the lacquer work on this pen to photos of the Bamboo pen on the internet.

The artwork is the same as the numbered pens and the artist\'s signature is the same.

I purchased this pen from a reputable pen dealer in Spain in 2001.

I started pen collecting in 1989 and for a few years ran The Washington, DC Fountain Pen Collectors Club. I did not start it, I just restarted it so I could see everyone else’s pens.

I have compared this pen to photos of two other Bamboo pens. I have also taken the pen to Bertram’s Inkwell in Rockville, MD. They also believe this is a genuine Parker Bamboo Maki-e from 2001. This is a genuine Parker Fountain that has been customized with a beautiful Japanese urushi lacquer. It has a two tone gold nub. This was one of a collection of custom art pens by Andreas Lambrou, President of Classic Pens.

You can search for \"Parker Bamboo\" to find a numbered pen for sale for $4,999.99.

My pen is in mint condition.

Never inked.

It comes with the Pen (medium nib), the original wood box with white fabric lining, a bottle of blue Parker ink, five ink refills, and a twist filler. See photos!

Priced to sell at a $500 dollar discount.
