This rare c1927 postcard depicts the West Fork Canyon Creek Bridge #6 in British Columbia, Canada. It stands over Pooley Creek along the Kettle Valley Railway. This is the longest and highest bridge in Myra Canyon.
Approximate size: 5.4 inches x 3.4 inches
This image was taken back when this bridge was still made of wood. It was replaced with steel in 1931-1932, so this offers a glimpse into the past.
This is what a local website has to say about the trail leading up to this bridge, to give context:
"With over 18 man-made trestles, 2 steel bridges and 2 tunnels built into the mountain in just under an hour-long bike ride, the Myra Canyon trail is the perfect memory your family will talk about for years to come. Check out the lake view, the valleys and the crazy-steep drops off the trestles that trains used to go over. You can follow this trail all the way south to Penticton if your heart so desires, but there are parking lots on both the Myra and Ruth station sides, offering the perfect, year-round hiking/biking stretch. Many people snowshoe or fatbike this stretch in the winter.
To access this trail from Kelowna, follow McCulloch Road past the golf course to the Myra Forest Service Road.
There are currently repairs underway from Bellevue Trestle to Glenfir Station along the KVR trail between Kelowna and Naramata."
