TWO SMALLER "COWGIRL" WILD RAGS & AN ANTIQUE STERLING SILVER "BOOT WITH SPUR" (WORKING ROWEL) NECKERCHIEF SLIDE
Neckerchiefs, also called bandanas, kerchiefs, wild rags, and sometimes scarves, were a genuine part of a cowboy’s outfit in the old west. They were used as a mask to protect against dust, earmuffs, sun protection, pot holder, injury sling or even a mask if you had a mind to rob a stagecoach.
We've owned these neckerchiefs for more than 25 years. They've been stored, folded in a plastic bag, on a closet shelf for at least 15 years.
The neckerchief slide features a sterling silver cowboy boot with a spur (and a working rowel). We purchased it from an Old West Antique dealer in the late 1980s, and have only worn it a couple of times.
