Vintage Bronze Gorilla SCULPTURE. By Peter Haller
Peter was the Son of Hermann Haller, a celebrated Swiss Sculptor who made heroic sculptures that were installed in such cities as Zurich and Berlin. Peter trained as an architect and became affiliated with the Chicago based firm of Perkins & Will. After an early retirement, he began investigating sculpture as an alternative medium of expression. He chose the animal instead of the human form. Working in plasteline, for bronze, he had a special empathy for otters, cheetah and larger primates. Peter Haller exhibited in many Society of Animal Arts Shows as well as other art organizations. Among his awards were the E. M. Gilmore Memorial Award from the Allied Artists in 1984 and the Anna Hyatt Huntington Award fromthe Hudson Valley Arts Association in 1989. He and his wife shared a passion for animal sculpture and enjoyed sharing a studiowhich they developed their individual expression.
The last time Peter put his young gorilla sculpture up for sale was in 1981 for $3,500 and sold in 1982
