I was told that they use banana leaf to make these paintings but I’m not sure about that. All I’m sure of is it is very unique and measures 12 to 16 inches. Surprisingly it’s unsigned but definitely took a lot of very creative work and is coated in some type of Veneer lacquer.
This is a really thrilling piece of art and it’s very unique. It could easily pass for African art, but the IBM executive who I got this from was from Haiti and focused on Haitian art.
She was an executive at IBM computers, and I believe she was deceased because the treasures I found in her storage unit with her paintings were absolutely breathtaking. If you look very closely at the close-up photos, you can see the grooves and ridges in the medium that they used to produce this painting. I don’t know if it is banana leaf, but I have been told that it was.
