Sandra Dee. (1942-2005). American teen actress. She began her career as a child model, working first in commercials, and then in film in her teenage years. She is best known for her portrayal of ingenues. She is best known for her performances in Gidget, which made her a household name. By the late 1960s, her career began to decline, and a highly publicized marriage to Boddy Darin ended in divorce. She attempted a comeback with the 1970 horror film The Dunwich Horror.
